Kauwri is an experimental jewelry brand based in Nairobi, Kenya. We are rooted in curiosity and craft, making contemporary African design for people who love beautiful things and the ideas behind them.

Every piece is handmade by artisan groups from low-income neighborhoods across Nairobi, using traditional brass making techniques. We have worked side by side with the artisans since our first piece, keeping craft alive, passing it on to younger generations, and putting 40% of our revenue back into paying them a decent living for their skill.

The cowrie, which our name plays on, remains our emblem. What we make around it is bold, thoughtful and a little unexpected.
